11 Things I Wish I Could Tell My 13-Year-Old Self

I'm turning 23 in September, which means it's been nearly a decade since I started my teen years. I've still got a long way to go and a lot to learn but, if time travel existed and I could visit myself all those years ago, here's what I'd have to say.

01: That hairstyle where you leave one long piece of hair out the front of your ponytail isn’t a good look

02: It might not feel great right now but broken hearts do mend, and the first is always the toughest

03: You won’t grow up to be a {insert latest job idea here}, or if you do your mind will change 1000 times on the way, so don’t stress so much

04: Dying your hair every five minutes isn’t doing it any favours

05: Try not to be so worried about what’s going on behind your back, your real friends will – and do – come through for you in the end

06: If you put your phone and your laptop down for an hour the world will not end and that boy will not disappear {and if he does, he definitely isn’t worth it}

07: In the future you’ll win running challenges at your gym and be invited to play netball for an Island first team – you really can do it if you put your mind to it, so don’t be so scared of losing that you don’t play the game

08: Don’t let people get to you. It’s a lot easier to let things go than you think

09: A hoodie and trackies tucked into Ugg boots is actually a really terrible look, even if it is Jack Wills

10: A belly button piercing is a bad idea: it’s uncomfortable, easily infected and actually doesn’t look so great. You’ll get rid of it in a few weeks

11: Most importantly {and the piece of advice you most definitely will not listen to}… stop being so concerned about boys and enjoy your friendships. Those boys won’t last but those girls will, and you’ll be forever thankful for them.

Until next time,

  1. Haha totally agree with all of these things! I swear teens now just look normal, my sister is more fashionable than I am!

    1. I totally agree... I wore elasticated waist band trousers and t-shirts with animals printed on when I was 13, but now they're out in better outfits than me! Thanks for stopping by lovely :)
