Beauty Haul

You can probably guess that there are many big benefits to working in a (the..) leading women's magazine in the UK. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we are inundated with free food, this week we had hot cross buns with mini Bonne Maman jam jars as well as the most indulgent rice krispie squares with gooey marshmallow and chocolate on top but food isn't the only benefit.
Each team has free stuff sent in on a regular basis in the hope it will get promoted, or sometimes just because the team has established a good relationship with that company, and it probably won't come as a surprise that the beauty team get sent more than they can handle.
So every few months they have a beauty sale where older products are given out to the office in exchange for a charity donation, in the past they have raised hundreds of pounds, and it puts everyone in a great mood.
Here are just a small selection of some of the wonderful things I got my hands on...
p.s. I'd like to apologise for the poor quality of photos, I've lost the charger cable for my camera so this was all snapped on my iPhone.

This line of Nicole by O.P.I. nail varnish's is insane. I've always been an OPI fan but these colours are beautiful and it's a really smooth coat (seriously I can't stand it when a coat comes out with air bubbles even after rolling). I would 100% recommend the clear top/base coat for sure, one of the best I've used.

I haven't tried the Estee Lauder mascara just yet but I'm a big fan of Estee Lauder make-up so I'm saving it. The MAC mascara I was sceptical of; it's one of their cheaper mascaras on the site and it comes with a hard brush but it is actually brilliant. I usually hate hard brush mascaras but it works absolutely brilliantly as a top coat mascara because the nature of the brush separates lashes.

I've been trying out lipsticks a bit more recently and still haven't fallen in love with any yet. This MAC lipstick is a beautiful colour, super subtle nude, and I love the packaging. It's brilliant for every day. The Kate lipstick I am in love with. I took a chance on colour (I have pale skin so don't like anything too dark) but it's beautiful and the application it great. I really hate buying strong coloured lipsticks that don't applicate well but this is wonderful, top marks.

I was in desperate need of a white varnish as my old one has gone gloopy and gross so when I saw a Michael Kors varnish I couldn't resist. How beautiful is the bottle? The shade is technically 'gossip' coloured but it is just a basic white. Lovely application though.

Hard to tell from the photo but this isn't just plain white, it's a pearly colour. My younger sister has the same one and I was constantly stealing it at home because it's a beautiful, elegant colour so I was so excited to see it in the sale. Worth a buy if you see it in stores.

I haven't shared everything with you because I bought so much so just my nail and make-up steals, I'm obsessed with painting my nails so try not to judge the amount of nail varnish's I bought. I have between 30 and 40 colours at the moment in my varnish box.

Again I'm super sorry that the photos are poor quality but I'm totally scattered with work at the moment and need to buy a new cable!
I won't be sharing a photo of fresh flowers this week because the ones from last week are still going strong (seriously they still look as fresh as day 1... I checked today to see if I'd actually bought fake ones!).

Anyway! Until next time, E xx

  1. Have seen a big hype over the O.P.I nail polish collection recently and will have to get my hands on some of them soon!! You're so lucky to have all these opportunities available to you!! <3 xx

    1. OPI is my favourite brand of varnish and the Nicole line just do the nicest colours, I don't really like reds or purples, I'm more interested in pastels or earthy colours so it suits me! I feel like the luckiest person at the moment with all this! Thanks for commenting :) xx

  2. Great haul, also I love opi nail polish!
Compliment for the blog I follow you on bloglovin' I hope you follow back :)
